Limestone caves and mangrove creeks are the attraction in Baratang, which lies 100 km north of Port Blair between South and Middle Andamans. There are mud volcanoes and beaches and nearby attractions like Parrot Island, where hundreds of parrots descend every evening at sundown.
Vehicles drive in convoys throughout the day as the highway to Baratang passes through the Jarawa reservation after Jirkatang. It is a restricted area and visitors get a glimpse of the tribals in their natural habitat. There are also government ferries that ply to this location by sea.
