The islet, Jolly Buoy Island, is within the Mahatma Gandhi National Park’s Marine Sanctuary. Along with Red Skin Island it is a preserved area, protected by the Andaman Administration . Either one or the other island is open to tourists at any given time. The clear water makes these locations beautiful for sightseeing and snorkeling.

The administration has endeavored to preserve the environment, making it a plastic-free zone.
